DHARKI
From the shores of Banaras to Bombay
Tucked into the leafy lanes of Altamount Road, where Mumbai’s old-world charm brushes against the city’s relentless pulse, Dharki quietly opened the doors to its first store.
Born from the sacred city of Banaras, Dharki has long championed India’s weaving traditions — crafting handwoven saris, odhanis, and dupattas that honor the richness of Banaras, Bengal, and Madhya Pradesh. The brand‘s ethos is evident in its contemporary designs that pay homage to heritage, creating pieces that resonate with the modern Indian woman.
With the opening of its Mumbai store, housed within a lovingly restored 100-year-old wine cellar at Mélange, Dharki steps into a new chapter. The setting feels apt: a heritage space, repurposed with care, where history and contemporary design quietly coexist.
Turntable was brought in to develop Dharki’s visual identity, building an understated brand language that mirrors the simplicity and depth of the products themselves. The decision was made to keep the design stripped back — a clean logotype paired with a soft old rose palette, grounded with neutral stones and touched with accents of gold, a quiet nod to the lustre of zari. In collaboration with the store’s interior designer, the brand‘s physical and visual language flow seamlessly into each other: confident, composed, quietly luxurious.
For those seeking beauty stitched into legacy, Dharki’s new home is less a retail space and more a passage — one that moves between heritage and the contemporary, between memory and renewal.
